About Great Diamond Press

Great Diamond Press is a children's book publisher based in California. We create hardcover picture books and adventure chapter books for kids ages 4 to 9, built around stories about belonging, individuality, and resilience. Our books are for kids who sometimes feel different — and for the parents, teachers, and homeschoolers looking for stories that tell them being different is a strength.

Our Mission

We believe kids need stories that help them make sense of hard things. Growing up isn't easy. Kids deal with fitting in, standing out, and figuring out who they are. Our books are about characters who face real struggles and come out stronger because of them, not in spite of them. Every Great Diamond Press book carries the same message: your differences are worth celebrating, and the challenges you face today are what shape the person you're becoming.

Where the Name Comes From

Diamonds start out as ordinary carbon, trapped deep in the earth. It takes heat and pressure over time to turn that carbon into something rare and lasting. We named our company after that process because it's a good description of how kids grow up too — shaped by both nature and the people who raise them, turning pressure into strength. That idea is at the center of every book we publish.

Our Books

Great Diamond Press publishes hardcover picture books and adventure chapter books for kids ages 4 to 9:

- Hidden Gems (Book I): Quest for the Great Diamond (ages 6–9) — winner of 1st Place in the 2020 IndieReader Discovery Awards, and reviewed by Kirkus Reviews for its "message of unity... vivid characters, plenty of action, and an unusual fantasy setting." Follows Gem, Opal, Pyrite, and Obsidian, a group of outcasts on a quest through a world of sentient rocks and minerals.

- Hidden Gems (Book II): The Jewel of Skarn Island (ages 6–9) — the sequel to Quest for the Great Diamond, continuing the Hidden Gems adventure series.

- Pip Goes Pop (ages 4–8) — a hardcover picture book adventure for young readers.

- Max the Meteorite (ages 4–8) — a hardcover adventure story about a meteorite's journey to Earth.

Who We Write For

Our books are written for kids ages 4 to 9 — picture books for younger readers and adventure chapter books for kids ready to read on their own — and for the adults looking for stories that go beyond entertainment — books that spark conversations about belonging, self-esteem, and resilience at home, in the classroom, or as part of a homeschool reading list.
